Cody Westheimer - Filmmaker
By trade a film composer, Cody Westheimer is a graduate
of the music composition program at USC's Thornton School
of Music. While attending USC Westheimer scored a record
40 student films. He now resides in West Los Angeles.
Primarily composing on keyboards, Westheimer is a veteran
brass player, specializing in jazz trombone and tuba. Not only
proficient in Western instruments, he began studying the
Japanese shakuhachi (bamboo flute - heard throughout the
WAVES score) in 1999. A unique element in Westheimer’s
music is his seamless blend of Eastern styles and space
with Western harmony and counterpoint.
Other than writing and playing music (and making the occasional short film) he enjoys playing ice hockey, yoga, running, nature photography and drinking the occasional Dr Pepper.
